Eketahuna's Sheldon Brown has moved quickly through New Zealand cross-country racing.
In 2025 he was runner-up in the junior grade of the national cross-country championships, riding for the PWR Yamaha team. Team boss Paul Whibley said he "pushed hard to keep Nixon honest in the Juniors", referring to champion Nixon Parkes.
In 2026 he stepped into the senior grade on a Honda CRF250R and finished the four-round national series second overall on 74 points, behind Callum Dudson, who won every round. Brown's best round result was second at round three.
Finishing second in his first season against the country's best senior cross-country riders makes him one of the names to watch in New Zealand off-road racing.
